TOM MITCHELL began his
musical career attending Julliard School of Music in New York City from
1947 thru 1951. After graduating, he began free-lancing in N.Y.C., then
began traveling with the Sauter/ Finegan Orchestra from 1953 to 1955.
After leaving "the road", Tom went into the recording studios
in N.Y.C. from 1955 to 1986.
His most memorable recording sessions were:

"Miles Ahead"....Miles Davis / Gil Evans
"J and K plus 6"...J.J.Johnson / Kai Winding
" 21 Trombones"....Urbie Green
"West Side Story"....Manny Albam
Tom retired and moved to Orlando, Florida and after meeting Mike Arena,
joined the Altamonte Jazz Ensemble and began writing and arranging for
the ensemble. |
